Biography

James Hedley will his contest his first full GB3 Championship season with Elite Motorsport this year, completing the Norfolk team’s three-car attack for honours alongside John Bennett and Tom Lebbon. The 18-year-old made his category debut with the team at the final round of the 2021 season at Donington Park in October, and recorded a best result of 10th place. 

Hedley, a BRDC Rising Star, began Cadet karting as an 11-year-old and joined Elite for his first car races in 2017, including the Ginetta Junior Winter Series. The Poole resident embarked on a full Ginetta Junior season with the team in 2018 and was fourth in the Rookie standings, scoring two overall podiums in a 26-race season that saw him achieve 10 top-six placings. 

Having won the 2018 Ginetta Junior Winter Series, James claimed the outright 2019 title by almost 100-points, securing seven wins and 11 additional podiums, plus 10 poles and 12 fastest race laps with the Norfolk squad.

For the past two years, Hedley competed in the British Formula 4 Championship. He won four races in his rookie season in 2020 and claimed fifth in the ’21 standings, having achieved eight podiums, including four wins.

James Hedley
