Event Format and costs

The GB3 Championship is run by MotorSport Vision's racing arm, MSVR, and comprises 24 races across eight events.

The weekend format typically includes a 20 minute qualifying session and two 20 minute races followed by a 25 minute final race featuring a reverse grid.

The grid for the first is set in qualifying order, while the grid for the second is in order of each driver's second fastest lap. The race three starting order will be the reverse of the top-12 fastest times achieved in qualifying prior to any penalties applied, with the remaining drivers lining up behind them in qualifying order. Such a format provides exciting racing, the opportunity for drivers to develop overtaking skills.

The minimum licence requirement for the GB3 Championship is FIA International C. Testing is unrestricted.

Season fees

A full season of race entries, including championship registration, will total £45,200 inc VAT, broken down as follows:

Championship Registration Fee: £16,800 inc VAT
Entry Fee (per round): £3,550 inc VAT 
 

Points system

Points are scored from 35 for a win to 1 for 20th using the following system in races one and two each weekend. This same system is used for events with a fourth race:

In the reverse grid race three, points are scored from 20 for a win to 1 for 15th using the following system:

In addition to these, points are also awarded in race three for positions gained during the race. So for example, if a driver started eighth and finished first, they would gain seven points, making for a total of 27 points.
