GB4 star Waberski “super excited” for GB3 move

04 January 2023

Jarrod Waberski was one of the standout contenders in the inaugural GB4 campaign, and the South African ace was recently confirmed in Fortec’s line-up as he graduates to the GB3 Championship.

The youngster, in his first year of racing in the UK, immediately impressed in GB4 despite no pre-season testing, winning four races in total and ending his season in perfect style with a double victory at the Donington Park season finale.

Having tested GB3 machinery on several occasions before the season ended, Waberski wasted no time by confirming his 2023 plans with Fortec, and reckons GB3 is the ideal move up the ladder from GB4.

“I think it was the most logical step for us to take,” he said. “GB4 is the perfect stepping stone to GB3, as they race on the same weekends, same circuits. Most of your learning is done in GB4.”

After a near-perfect end to his season in GB4, Waberski is keen to continue that level of performance as he makes the step up the ladder.

“I’m super determined to carry that same form plus more, as the level in GB3 is and will be extremely high. It will be extremely important to always keep improving.”

Waberski’s GB4 performances were even more impressive considering he had no pre-season testing before the opening round at Snetterton. With plenty of seat time in GB3 already, and more to come, he’s hoping he will be able to show even greater potential when the season starts in April.

“It [seat time] plays a massive role, coming into GB4 with no pre-season testing was a massive challenge that I had to face throughout the year. Having the opportunity to be able to do some preparation before the season starts will be a huge help, especially when adapting to a higher downforce car.”

Waberski’s alliance with Fortec puts him with a squad that has won multiple titles throughout its existence, and came close to another with Joel Granfors in 2022. He’s hoping their combination will be a potent force in 2023.

“I’m super excited to be joining such a prestigious team, having experienced how well they work and their passion to succeed is truly amazing, so I think it will be a great fit!

“Of course the ultimate goal is to win the championship, but there is still a lot of learning for me to do, so it will be important to take it race by race.”
