Hedley: “We’ve got to do pole now”

06 May 2022

Elite Motorsport’s James Hedley was the quickest driver in testing at Silverstone this week, and the multiple British F4 race winner is heading into qualifying tomorrow in a good frame of mind.

His best lap of 1m52.304s came in the first session on Friday, and was two tenths quicker than anything else managed throughout the day.

“It’s really good for us,” he said. “The team has done a mega job with the car and everything just seemed to come together, which is really good to see especially after we struggled at Oulton.”

Hedley has been impressed with the new Tatuus MSV-022 car around the high speed swoops of Silverstone, with his lap being 3.5 seconds faster than the best time recorded last year.

“I didn’t drive the old car around here but the car does feel really fast through the high speed. It’s a really cool car to drive around here.”

As for qualifying, Hedley’s aims are to repeat today’s performance and aim for pole position.

“Nothing should change too much from today to tomorrow, so we will see what we can do when it comes down to qualifying in the morning. I want to put it on pole; we have to do pole now. With the pace today, I can’t see any reason why not, so we’ll go for that.”
