Taylor’s thoughts – British contender reviews his season

23 November 2022

Zak Taylor was a podium finisher in his first season in GB3, with third place at Spa-Francorchamps. The British ace stepped up from British F4, where he was a race winner, and showed flashes of pace as he stepped up the motorsport ladder.

A difficult run of luck meant he wasn’t always able to capitalise on his potential, but when the stars aligned, he proved capable of mixing it inside the top-10, with a run of three consecutive such finishes towards the end of the campaign.

Here’s how he recaps his season.

Best moment
The last round at Donington was a good feeling, being able to show my true pace throughout the two days testing and during the race weekend.

Toughest moment
The first six rounds were all very tough mentally, competing at tracks I was very familiar with, Spa being the exception, but we were uncompetitive.

Favourite race of the year
Race two at the last round at Donington. In changeable conditions it was good fun for the first half before the slick tyres paid off for a few of the competitors.

Favourite driver to race against this year
It’d be hard to pick out a favourite, each driver has different qualities on what was a very competitive grid.

If I could race anything next year, it would be…
It would be GB3, following on from a competitive final two rounds with CDR and aiming for a much more successful season.

I’m going to spend my winter doing…
Continuing with physical training and keeping on the simulator to make sure I’m well prepared for the 2023 season.
