Callum Voisin, Tom Lebbon and Bryce Aron were the fastest three drivers in qualifying at Donington Park this morning. Here’s how each driver reacted after the session.
Double pole, Callum Voisin, Carlin:
“It’s the best way to do it. This is exactly what we wanted to do and come out as the fastest guy. Double pole is exactly what we were looking for. I’m really happy, a massive thank you to the team as they’ve done a great job, let’s carry that on onto to the rest of the weekend.
“On my side we still have two duties to do which is third in the championship and the teams’ championship. Certainly I don’t have the pressure of Luke [Browning] or Joel [Granfors] in that case. It’s a great opportunity to hopefully grab a race win or two.
“This [winning the Pole Position Cup] is definitely needed after Brands Hatch, I’m very happy. Thank you to John Cavill and GB3 for organizing this and putting it together.”
Second, Tom Lebbon, Elite Motorsport:
“It was a good session, it started off really greasy at the start on slick tyres, but was dry towards the end and managed to get P2. I was on for pole for most of the session but then Voisin just pipped me at the end.
“It was definitely difficult with a few wet patches here and there and always wary of track limits but it was definitely a good result. It’s definitely the aim at the end of this season, try and pick up some wins or some more podiums but I’m happy with the result whatever happens.”
Third, Bryce Aron, Hitech GP:
“it is my best result of the year, I’m really excited about it. It was a bit of an interesting session, it started off a little damp but there were some areas where it dried out during the run. Really, really good session, car felt great and I can’t thank the Hitech boys enough.
“At the end of the day I have to look out for myself. We’re all racing for ourselves but I’ll help out where I can. I’m good friends with Luke, I like the guy, he really deserves to win this championship but I’ll be focused on myself for this race and can hopefully get a podium or a win.
“I’m looking forward to hopefully taking a win here, need to get a good start, the other guys up here, Tom and Callum are very, very quick guys so we’ll have to see what we can do but really looking forward to it.”
