GB3 champion Voisin presented with Jim Clark Trophy at BRDC Awards

Newly crowned GB3 champion Callum Voisin was presented with the Jim Clark Trophy at the annual British Racing Drivers’ Club Awards in London yesterday (Monday).

Each year, the GB3 champion is presented with the award at the prestigious ceremony at the London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square, in front of the UK’s leading motorsport figures.

Voisin received his trophy from MSV Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer. In his second GB3 campaign, he claimed two race wins and nine additional podiums, while also winning the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup for the second time.

“It was tough, it was a long season and we had to make sure we got it right,” Voisin told host Jake Humphrey as he received his award. “Especially coming off the back of a pretty successful first season in single-seaters with Carlin. Coming into the year we knew it was going to be tough but I’m very happy and it went exactly as we’d have wanted.”

Humphrey pointed out that one of Voisin’s key traits was his ability to carve his way up the order in the reverse grid contests, claiming 64 points in such contests across the season.

“I just like overtaking, a few round the outside moves, some up the inside!” Voisin quipped. “Reverse grid races are really carnage and pretty scary at the same time, especially when you’ve got a championship on the line, like in the last race at Donington Park, but I enjoyed it for sure.”
