Leading GB3 squad Carlin has become Rodin Carlin, after Australian businessman and entrepreneur David Dicker acquired a majority shareholding in the Farnham-based operation through his Rodin Cars brand.
Since its inception in 1999, Carlin has become a force in junior single-seater racing and has racked up hundreds of wins and multiple titles in categories including F4, FIA F3 and F2, as well as branching out into Indy Lights and IndyCar. The squad won the BRDC British F3 title in 2017, 2019 and 2020, and claimed the first crown under the new GB3 moniker with Zak O’Sullivan.
For 2023, the team is expanding into Spanish F4 and the new F1 Academy series, complementing its focus on the contemporary junior single-seater ladder.
Trevor and Stephanie Carlin will continue to lead the Farnham-based team on a day-to-day basis, with no changes to personnel or operations.
Rodin Cars first took an interest in the team last year, when it sponsored antipodean drivers Liam Lawson and Louis Sharp in Carlin’s FIA F2 and F4 squads respectively. The brand, based in New Zealand, is a relative newcomer to the motorsport and automotive sector and produces high-technology, high-performance track cars at it’s state-of-the-art factory and test track on South Island. The brand also has a UK base at MSV’s Donington Park circuit.
“We’ve been extremely impressed during our past season with Carlin through our involvement with Liam and Louis, both of whom have enjoyed some great success” said Rodin Carlin Chairman David Dicker. “Trevor and I share the same ambitions and having seen first-hand what the team can already achieve, being part of the driving force for the future is extremely exciting.
