Fortec Motorsport completes GB3 line-up with F4 graduate Edward Pearson

01 February 2023

GB3 front-runner Fortec Motorsport has completed its 2023 GB3 Championship line-up with the signing of British F4 graduate Edward Pearson.

16-year-old Pearson claimed 17 top-ten finishes in a consistent maiden single-seater campaign in 2022, as he stepped up to British F4 from Ginetta Juniors. His season ended in impressive style in October as he banked two top-five finishes on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, his best results of the year.

The Surrey resident’s F4 campaign came after a strong Ginetta Junior season in 2021, where he first demonstrated traits of his constant improvement trend, banking a maiden car racing podium in the final race of the year, also at Brands Hatch.

Preceding his graduation to car racing, Edward was an impressive contender in a brief karting career, placing fifth overall in the 2019 British Kart Championship X30 Mini division, and he took the same position in the IAME Winter Cup X30 Junior category a year later.

He now steps up to another level for the fourth consecutive season, and joins Max Esterson and Jarrod Waberski in Fortec’s GB3 line-up for 2023.

Edward Pearson said: “I am really looking forward to joining such a prestigious team; Fortec bring a higher level of engineering to the car set up than I have experienced in the past, I am really excited by the possibilities!”

Fortec Motorsport Team Manager Oliver Dutton said: “We’re really pleased to complete our GB3 line-up with Edward. He’s certainly not afraid of a challenge, his rapid rise from karting to GB3 through Ginetta Junior and F4 is testament to that, and he’s shown encouraging signs of being a driver with plenty of potential, given that his results have constantly improved as the last two seasons have gone on.

“We look forward to working with him to further extract that potential, and are confident that he can be right in the mix with what’s going to be a very strong grid throughout the year.”
