JHR Developments’ championship front-runner Matthew Rees is in confident mood heading into the third event of the season this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps.
The Welshman, in his second season of GB3, sits fourth in the standings at present having taken two podiums from the six races so far.
However he’s still gunning for a first win of the season, and he’s heading to the legendary home of the Belgian Grand Prix hoping to put that right.
“Spa hasn’t been a bad circuit for me so far” he said. “I’m looking forward to the weekend as we seemed pretty fast there in testing [earlier in the season], so I like my chances going into the weekend, and I’ll just try to remain calm and collected and see what I can do when we get there.”
While he’s hoping for his best results of the season, he’s doing so at one of his favourite venues of the year.
“It’s a nice place to drive with some good flowing sections, and I’m a fan of La Source at the start of the lap in particular.
“We had some top speed issues there last year which made it difficult for us to get the result we wanted, but we shouldn’t have that same problem this time, especially as we have so much more knowledge behind us.”
