Arden VRD adds USA F4 front-runner Noah Ping to GB3 line-up

01 March 2023

Arden VRD has confirmed that American contender Noah Ping will race with the team in the 2023 GB3 Championship.

The 20-year-old from Gainesville, Georgia, has proven himself as a single-seater front-runner, having finished third in the 2022 USA F4 Championship with VRD, and taken the runner-up spot in the YACademy Winter Series, also with VRD.

His USA F4 campaign included four victories, with one each at Road America, the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Virginia International Raceway and Circuit of the Americas, in addition to four other podium finishes, two pole positions and four fastest laps.

That success was preceded by strong performances in the YACademy Winter Series, where Noah finished just 12 points away from the eventual champion, with two wins and two further podium finishes from the six races.

His car racing career began in 2020 in the Radical Cup, and he took three wins in the category in 2021 on the way to claiming the Rookie of the Year honour. He’s also raced in the SCCA Spec Racer Ford series, two eight-hour World Racing League races at the Circuit of the Americas, and contested the first two weekends of last year’s USF Juniors series.

Ping now moves to race in Europe for the first time, and joins fellow VRD contender Nico Christodoulou at the Banbury-based Arden VRD GB3 team following a productive schedule of testing in Europe.

Noah Ping said: “I’m extremely excited and grateful for this upcoming season with VRD Racing and Arden Motorsport! I can’t thank Dan Mitchell, VRD Racing, and the Arden team enough for putting their trust in me to race in the GB3 Championship. The GB3 field is going to be highly competitive and every race is going to come down to the last lap. That being said, I have a lot to learn, but am fully confident that VRD Racing and Arden Motorsport can provide me with a race winning car. This 2023 season is going to be something extremely special!”

Arden VRD Team Manager Jack Woodhouse said: “We’ve already completed a good amount of testing with Noah at Jerez and Barcelona, and the speed and talent he’d demonstrated in the USA was on show as he moved up to GB3 machinery. It was a no brainer for all of us to put the deal together and we’re looking forward to working with him across a busy pre-season testing campaign to get him up to speed with the British circuits. The agreement with Noah is another demonstration of the benefits of our collaboration with VRD, as we help some of America’s most talented drivers further their careers in Europe.”

VRD Racing’s Dan Mitchell said: “It's great to have Noah Ping join the Arden VRD GB3 team for the 2023 season, bringing the racing disciplines, determination and drive proven to his success so far. Showcasing his growth in open wheel racing throughout 2022, Noah is a great asset to be joining team-mate Nico Christodoulou. This will only strengthen the team and drivers to be strong contenders throughout the season.”
