How to follow GB3’s Spa sojourn this weekend

30 May 2023

The GB3 Championship makes the always popular trip to Spa-Francorchamps this weekend (2-4 June), the first of two overseas trips in 2023. The event follows a slightly unconventional timetable with practice sessions on Friday before qualifying in the evening.

The first two races then take place on Saturday, with the finale on Sunday morning. Here’s the all-important times to follow this weekend, with live streaming showing all the action on Saturday and Sunday.

FRIDAY 2 JUNE (all times CEST)
09.00-09.45 – Practice one
11.37-12.22 – Practice two
14.42-15.27 – Practice three
18.35-19.00 – Qualifying

The Spa event starts with three 45-minute practice sessions, allowing drivers to get fully up to speed at one of the world’s most famous and daunting circuits. The qualifying session then follows at 18.35 local time, and due to the length of the circuit, is five minutes longer than usual as 25 minutes in duration. As is normal, qualifying will determine the starting order for races one and two on Saturday.

SATURDAY 3 JUNE
11.56-12.16 – Race 1
17.37-17.57 – Race 2

The first race of the weekend starts just before midday local time, with the grid determined by each driver’s fastest qualifying times. The starting order for race two is formed by each driver’s second best times from Friday evening’s session. Live streaming of both races from Spa will commence around 10 minutes before each contest.

SUNDAY 4 JUNE
11.53-12.18 – Race 3

The reverse grid encounter at Spa is always one of the most eventful of the year, with the long flat out stretches and sweeping corners providing ample opportunity for the fastest drivers to fight their way through the pack. All drivers within 103% of the fastest qualifying time will be reversed on the grid, with streaming action due to commence around 10 minutes beforehand once more.
