Douglas Motorsport’s Tymek Kucharczyk posted the fastest time of the day in the final Thursday session at Donington Park this afternoon.
The Polish ace, hunting a first GB3 victory, delivered a best effort of 1m23.545s, faster than the pole time at last year’s season finale, and just under a quarter of a second clear of the rest of the field, headed by Rodin Carlin’s championship leader Callum Voisin.
Voisin was 0.081s ahead of fellow title contender Alex Dunne, the Hitech Pulse-Eight driver being 0.072s ahead of JHR’s title outsider Matthew Rees, with the Welshman’s teammate Joseph Loake, currently second in the fight, registering the fifth fastest time and a tenth further back.
Arden VRD duo Nico Christodoulou and James Hedley were sixth and seventh quickest, separated by just 0.031s, while the fifth championship contender, Elite’s McKenzy Cresswell, was eighth and 0.036s further back.
Costa Toparis (Rodin Carlin) and Noah Ping (Arden VRD) completed the top-10, which was covered by 0.851s.
All drivers, with the exception of John Bennett, posted their best times in the final session, with Bennett causing the sole red flag in the final test courtesy of an off into the gravel at Coppice.
The GB3 field has another two sessions tomorrow, with the first at 09.45 and the second at 14.30.
