2022 GB3 champion Luke Browning received his test with the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 team at Silverstone on Tuesday, as part of his prize for winning the Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award.

Browning, who has competed in FIA Formula 3 this season, got behind the wheel of the team’s AMR21 for two installation runs on wet tyres initially, before a six lap push.

He then completed multiple stints on hard and soft Pirelli tyres, culminating in a final three lap push run on softs.

Speaking to Autosport.com, Browning said: “It was like a dream, really. Little boy’s dream come true, that’s for sure.

“It was just as fast as anyone might think it could be, it was absolutely ballistic. The power, the brakes, the high-speed downforce is just absolutely incredible.

“It’s a day I’ll always remember, that’s for sure, and I have to say I’m just so grateful to the BRDC, to Derek [Warwick], to Autosport, Aston Martin and to everyone involved who makes this possible for young racing drivers.

“It’s the biggest prize for a junior youngster coming up and I’m very grateful. Just lost for words."

Browning’s GB3 champion successor Callum Voisin and his fellow title contender Joseph Loake will fight it out for the same prize at Silverstone this week. The pair have made the final four for this year’s running of the Award, and will discover their fate at December’s Autosport Awards in London.
