26 April 2024

Elite Motorsport’s Jarrod Waberski left it late to top the times in the first Friday session at Silverstone, with his last lap of the 25-minute session putting him fastest.

The South African’s time of 1m53.265s put him just 0.003s clear of VRD Racing by Arden’s Nikita Johnson, who is continuing preparations ahead of his GB3 debut at Spa.

FIA F3 race winner Martinius Stenshorne put his Chris Dittmann Racing car in third, and just 0.074s away from top spot in a closely fought session.

The second VRD Racing by Arden car of James Hedley was fourth, less than half a tenth further back and 0.151s clear of Fortec’s tester Arvid Lindblad, who had led the session until the final few minutes.

Will Macintyre was the lead Hitech Pulse-Eight runner in sixth, 0.018s away from Lindblad and a tenth clear of Elite’s Thursday session four pace-setter McKenzy Cresswell.

Oulton Park race winner John Bennett was eighth quickest for JHR Developments, with Hitech’s Tymek Kucharczyk and Rodin’s championship leader Louis Sharp completing the top-10, which was covered by 0.525s.

Rodin’s Ugo Ugochukwu and Fortec’s James Wharton joined the test for the first time this week, after completing Formula Regional testing duties, and were 11th and 21st respectively.

A total of 26 cars took part in session one, with Douglas Motorsport and Hillspeed running extra machinery too.
