JHR Developments’ John Bennett claimed the first Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award of the new season at Oulton Park, courtesy of his race one effort in Cheshire.
The British driver, who recorded his first GB3 win in race two, registered a 1m30.514s lap in the first race of the season, in pursuit of Rodin’s Louis Sharp.
Bennett’s fastest race lap was just under a tenth quicker than anyone else’s, with the quickest times coming on Saturday when conditions were at their best.
The 20-year-old also set the fastest lap in race two, on the way to his first win, while Will Macintyre was the quickest driver in race three.
“Considering the difficulties we faced last season, I really wanted to come back and show everyone what I can do,” Bennett said after the weekend.
“JHR Developments have been fantastic, we’ve been right up there on the timesheets through pre-season and it’s great to have continued that pace this weekend.”
