GB3 Championship runner-up John Bennett has confirmed he will make a full-time step up to the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2025 with Van Amersfoort Racing.
Bennett, who won three races in GB3 this year with JHR Developments, sampled F2 during the final two rounds of the season and scored points during his debut weekend at Qatar, before showing well at the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
The Brit stayed with the team for post-season testing at the same circuit, having also completed the post-season FIA Formula 3 Championship test with the team in October.
Bennett is the first driver to go straight from GB3 to FIA F2, and is looking forward to his full campaign with the Dutch squad next year.
“I am delighted to be racing with VAR in Formula 2 for 2025” Bennett said. “Since my first day testing in F3, it has been a great environment to work in.
“Thank you to the team for all their support, and I cannot wait to get started next year.”
Van Amerfoort Team Principal Brad Joyce added: “We are delighted to welcome John to our full-time Formula 2 line-up for 2025. His progression through the final rounds of the 2024 season demonstrated his ability to quickly adapt in challenging conditions.
“The team is certain that he is ready for this next step. We look forward to supporting him throughout the season as he continues to grow and compete at one of the highest levels of motorsport.”
