Browning takes F3 Championship lead after Bahrain victory

02 March 2024

Luke Browning holds the early Formula 3 Championship lead after taking a superb victory in Bahrain today (Saturday).

The Hitech Pulse-Eight driver started second on the grid but blasted into the lead on the run to turn one.

The 2022 GB3 champion held the lead throughout the race, despite battling with a car issue, resulting in a sick-sounding engine.

Despite the issue, he held off 2021 GB3 race-winner Christian Mansell, with the duo completing an alumni 1-2 at the end of the first feature race of the year.

Alex Dunne meanwhile finished in ninth, as he claimed his first F3 points.

In Formula 2 meanwhile, 2021 GB3 champion Zak O’Sullivan scored more points with a battling drive to fourth place.

Having run inside the podium positions for much of the race, tyre offsets allowed those on better rubber to move past, but he still completed a strong debut weekend in the series with his second points finish, and lies fifth in the standings.

After losing pole position for a technical infringement, Kush Maini battled from the back of the grid to claim an excellent seventh place, with several late moves as he blasted up the order.

F2 resumes in Jeddah next weekend, whilst F3 returns to action in Melbourne later this month.
