Newly crowned GB3 Champion Louis Sharp will remain with Rodin Motorsport as he steps up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship for the 2025 season.
The British-born New Zealander makes the step up to the F1-support paddock fresh off the back of his GB3 title, which he wrapped up in dramatic fashion at Brands Hatch in the final race. All signs pointed to a positive season for Sharp when he won on debut at Oulton Park in the first race of the season and went on to claim another four race wins and five podiums.
Sharp joined the team in 2022 whilst making his single seater debut in the British F4 Championship. Unable to compete in the opening rounds due to his age, Sharp immediately showed his extensive talent and tallied up an impressive haul of points to finish fourth overall in the championship. Re-signing with the team's British F4 outfit for the 2023 season, Sharp scooped up a total of six wins, 14 podiums and two pole positions on his way to the series title.
Also backed by Rodin Cars, Sharp already has an incredibly strong working relationship with the team, which will develop from strength to strength in this upcoming season. The newly crowned GB3 Champion will take on the challenges of a new car, which will be introduced to the FIA Formula 3 Championship for the 2025 season, and a whole host of new and exciting tracks as he makes his debut in the hotly contested championship with race winners Rodin Motorsport.
On making this step up with Rodin Motorsport, Sharp said, “I’m obviously excited to be making the next step up to FIA Formula 3 – even more so as I’m back with Rodin Motorsport which has been such an important factor in all my successes to date. Though I’m still coming to terms with what I’ve achieved winning back-to-back titles, I’m already starting to concentrate on what’s ahead. I’m really looking forward to be racing alongside Grands Prix in 2025 and will do everything I can to maintain my current momentum. I’m now looking forward to starting my F3 preparations later this month in Spain and confident both the team and I will be ready when the lights go out in Australia.”
Rodin Cars and Rodin Motorsport owner David Dicker said, “I am pleased to be continuing our journey with Louis in the Formula 3 Championship. Louis has been such an exciting young talent to watch develop over the years for us at Rodin Cars and Rodin Motorsport and I have no doubt that he’s going to be able to make the step up to this new championship the same way he has in previous years - I’m looking forward to seeing him get back out on track.”
FIA Formula 3 Team Manager Sam Waple said, “It is great to have Louis join our Formula 3 effort for 2025, especially off the back of a dominant performance in GB3. Having the new chassis will provide a level playing field for the rookies and Louis has shown throughout his British F4 and GB3 campaigns how quickly he adapts to new cars and tracks. We are really looking forward to working with Louis once again.”
