F4 race-winner Mika Abrahams moves up to GB3 with Fortec Motorsports

22 April 2025

Fortec Motorsports has confirmed that 16-year-old South African racer Mika Abrahams will move up to the GB3 Championship with the team in 2025.

Mika, who competed with Fortec during the 2023 F4 British Championship, makes a welcome return to the Daventry-based outfit following an impressive debut year of racing.

During his 2023 campaign, he made history by becoming the first African driver to secure a double pole position in the series - an achievement that marked a significant milestone for African motorsport on the international stage. He became a race-winner in the series during last year's season opener at Donington Park.

Abrahams has since turned his attentions to testing the new Tatuus MSV GB3-025 car with the team, and has shown impressive pace so far, with strong performances at Silverstone last month.

The 2025 GB3 Championship season gets underway at Silverstone this coming weekend (April 26/27), where Mika will link up with teammate Stefan Bostandjiev. The series features 24 races across the UK and Europe, which includes five visits to current Formula 1 World Championship venues.

Mika Abrahams said: “It feels like coming home. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with everyone at Fortec Motorsports once again, and I am looking forward to a successful season ahead.”

Fortec Motorsports Team Principal Oliver Dutton said: “We are thrilled to welcome Mika back to Fortec Motorsports for his GB3 Championship debut, as his performances with the team in 2023 showcased his speed and ability. Over the winter, our engineers and crew have worked tirelessly to fine-tune our package, and we believe Mika has every tool at his disposal to fight at the sharp end of the grid. We can’t wait to see him in action at Silverstone and beyond.”
