Seewooruthun eyes title fight in GB3 graduation

24 February 2025

Ginetta Junior and British F4 race winner Reza Seewooruthun got his first taste of the new GB3 car at Donington Park last week, and the Argenti with Prema driver is hoping to challenge at the front of the grid in 2024.

The British driver steps up another level this year, having moved up the ladder with quick succession across the past two years, and admits that his first taste of driving the Tatuus MSV GB3-025 was one to remember.

“It’s good and very exciting, I still feel giddy now!” he quipped after his first stint in the car. “It feels so good, it’s day one, there’s a lot more test days to go and I’m looking forward to getting it right in the window and seeing what I can do.

“It’s the best looking car I’ve driven! Performance wise, straight away it feels good coming off the corners, straight line speed feels good and obviously DRS is really cool to open! I had a little try out to see what it did. It’s definitely the coolest car I’ve driven and I’m looking forward to seeing what it can do in the dry as it’s been greasy out there.”

Seewooruthun is no stranger to challenging for race wins, and he’s hoping to make the most of the Argenti with Prema combination in GB3.

“I want to win it, that’s the goal and the team has put a lot of time, money and commitment into this project. Obviously the link with Prema boosts your confidence even more going into it and I know everyone in the team has the same mission. That mission is to win.

“The team has the expertise, everyone at the team has a lot of history, a lot of winning experience so we’ll have to see what we can do together.”

Already race sharp, Seewooruthun heads back to the Middle East this weekend to resume his Formula Regional Middle East campaign, before ramping up his GB3 preparations.

“I’ve still got another race in the Middle East to go, then we’re straight into full GB3 testing, we should be out three times a week pretty much up until the season starts, so a lot of time to get everything worked out.

“The whole idea of doing it [Formula Regional Middle East] is to come into the main season and already be three or four race weekends ahead of everyone else. It should put us on the front foot heading into round one.”

Several of his F4 rivals are also making the step up this year, and he’s looking forward to resuming those battles in the more powerful and dynamic GB3 car.

“I think Alex Ninovic and Deagen Fairclough will be in the fight, Deagen won a lot last year and Alex seems good in the high downforce cars, so I think they’ll be our main competition.

“I’ve been looking forward to getting in the high downforce cars and the racing should be a lot better than in F4. It’s a different challenge but it should be good.”
