Pre-season testing ramps up at busy Silverstone

28 February 2025

A dozen brand new GB3 cars were in attendance at Silverstone across the past two days, as pre-season testing kicked up a gear at the home of the British Grand Prix.

Five of the seven teams in attendance ran two cars, with all teams having collected their second new machine from Bedford Autodrome earlier in the week.

Argenti with Prema fielded Yuanpu Cui and Lucas Fluxa, with Mercedes junior Cui adding mileage to that he accrued in two separate tests at Donington Park in the last seven days, while Fluxa gained experience having first tested the car at Donington on Tuesday.

Chris Dittmann Racing ran two cars with a pair of prospective drivers behind the wheel, while Hillspeed’s newly liveried first car was used by Rodin’s Gianmarco Pradel, with a second driver also sampling the Tatuus MSV GB3-025.

Hitech were also busy with Deagen Fairclough and Keanu Al Azhari, with Rodin handing first proper mileage to F1 Academy champion Abbi Pulling and British F4 runner-up Alex Ninovic.

VRD returned to action with Hunter Yeany once more while Patrick Heuzenroeder and Jack Sherwood returned to action with Xcel Motorsport, having also run in Wales earlier in the week.

Cars displayed impressive levels of reliability, with teams enjoying up to three hours of tracktime on each day at the test.

Away from Silverstone, Elite Motorsport and JHR Developments have also been testing out in Spain this week, ahead of next week’s official test days at Snetterton (5/6 March), with approaching 20 new GB3 cars expected to run.
