Patrick Heuzenroeder to spearhead Xcel Motorsport’s inaugural GB3 campaign

03 February 2025

Xcel Motorsport has confirmed that Australian Patrick Heuzenroeder will join the team for its maiden GB3 Championship campaign in 2025.

Heuzenroeder demonstrated his potential in last year’s GB3 Championship, with a podium finish and consistent top 10 positions, and will be coming off a highly successful campaign in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship in New Zealand, having already secured multiple podiums, underlining his credentials as one to watch in 2025.

The Australian’s 2024 podium came during a strong mid-season run of form at continental venues. He netted his best qualifying result at the Hungaroring, and the streak culminated with a third place finish in the final Zandvoort contest. That trophy added to silverware secured at the end of 2023, with an additional podium at Donington Park at the conclusion of his first short spell in the series.

Between his GB3 campaigns, Heuzenroeder is currently competing in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship.  He currently sits fourth in the standings with eight top 5 finishes (including three podiums) out of the twelve races so far.

The 19-year-old’s experience, having also raced in British F4 and Formula Ford prior to that in his homeland, will be a strong asset for the UAE-based Xcel Motorsport squad, which is preparing for its GB3 debut this year.

Patrick Heuzenroeder said: “I’m very excited to be joining Xcel Motorsport in my 2025 GB3 campaign. I think we’ve got a great team, full of experience, and hungry to win, so I can’t wait to get the season started in April!”

Xcel Motorsport Team Manager Gary Bonnor said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Patrick to Xcel Motorsport for our inaugural GB3 season. Patrick’s experience will be invaluable as we hit the ground running in 2025.

“His performance in 2024 and over the winter in New Zealand shows he has what it takes to compete at the sharp end of the grid, and we’re committed to providing him with all the tools and support he needs to achieve even greater success this year. We’re excited to see what we can accomplish together.”
