Series graduates Ross Gunn and Tom Gamble have been named as Aston Martin drivers for the Le Mans 24 Hours in June, and in the World Endurance Championship.
The pair will be teammates at the French endurance classic, driving the brand new Valkyrie AMR-LMH Hypercar machine in the all-British #007 entry with Harry Tincknell, run by the manufacturer’s works-backed The Heart of Racing team.
Gunn, a 2013 BRDC F4 double race winner, has long been a factory driver for Aston Martin, while two-time 2018 BRDC British F3 race winner and Autosport BRDC Award winner Gamble has also competed for The Heart of Racing previously, while also enjoying a stint as a McLaren factory driver.
Gamble has been confirmed for the full World Endurance Championship season, while Gunn will join him in the same car at selected WEC events, with his primary focus being part of the sole entry for the squad in the IMSA SportsCar Championship in America.
The Valkyrie AMR-LMH has its roots in the Valkyrie road car designed by Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman and Adrian Newey, and will be the only normally-aspirated V12-powered machines in the top Hypercar category at Le Mans.
“I rate him [Gamble] very highly as a natural talent and he deserves a chance in the spotlight at the highest level of sports car racing,” said The Heart of Racing Team Principal Ian James.
“Ross has been with us for the past four years and has become, without doubt, one of the best GT drivers in the world. He proved it last year in the GTD Pro title race, just narrowly missing out.
“He’s a team player, is naturally gifted and has a feel for a race car that not many drivers have.”
