Xcel Motorsport’s Patrick Heuzenroeder set the pace on the first day of media day testing at Donington Park.
The Australian recorded his best lap of 1m22.352s, quicker than the official series qualifying lap record, in the third of four sessions held on the Grand Prix circuit.
He ended the day 0.050s ahead of Hillspeed’s Freddie Slater, with Rodin Motorsport’s Alex Ninovic just 0.020s further back in third, having topped two of the day’s four sessions.
Hitech’s Deagen Fairclough was the other driver to top a session on Wednesday, with his best time from session two putting him fourth and 0.186s away from Heuzenroeder’s outright best.
The second Rodin Motorsport car of Gianmarco Pradel was fifth courtesy of his third session time, and 0.035s clear of the lead JHR Developments’ car of Noah Lisle.
Will Macintyre was the top Elite Motorsport runner in seventh, 0.049s further back and 0.165s ahead of Hitech's Alpine Academy-backed Keanu Al Azhari in eighth.
The second Xcel Motorsport car of Jack Sherwood, and the lead Fortec machine of James Higgins completed the top-10, which was covered by 0.719s.
The top-14 drivers, including Stefan Bostandjiev (Fortec), Nikita Johnson (Hitech), Abbi Pulling (Rodin) and Lucas Fluxa (Argenti with Prema) were all within a second of the day’s fastest lap time.
Across the four sessions, the 19 brand new GB3 cars present at today’s test completed 1,368 laps of the Donington Park circuit, further demonstrating the impressive reliability levels of the new machine.
Testing resumes at Donington Park tomorrow with four more sessions.
