Fairclough flies to new fastest time in final Snetterton session

06 March 2025

Hitech’s Deagen Fairclough recorded the quickest time of the week in the final GB3 Championship session of the day at Snetterton.

The Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award winner posted a 1m40.468s late in the afternoon to beat yesterday’s quickest time by exactly one tenth of a second, with that time again being quicker than the official GB3 race lap record at the Norfolk circuit.

The chance to go even quicker was denied in the final few minutes after a late red flag, but the top-three drivers were covered by a scant 0.052s at the end of the day.

Hillspeed’s Freddie Slater topped two of today's four sessions and was just 0.013s off Fairclough to go second overall, with Rodin’s Alex Ninovic, the pace setter in session two, 0.039s further back to end the day third.

The second Hitech car of Keanu Al Azhari went one better than yesterday to go fourth fastest overall, with the lead quartet each recording their best laps in the final session.

Elite’s Will Macintyre was fifth quickest courtesy of his session one effort, and less than half a second away from Fairclough’s benchmark.

Rodin’s F1 Academy champion Abbi Pulling was again inside the top-six, with her session four lap putting her ahead of 2025 teammate Gianmarco Pradel, who was running alongside Slater at Hillspeed.

Having missed yesterday’s action, Reza Seewooruthun put his Argenti with Prema car eighth quickest as he replaced Yuanpu Cui in the car, three tenths clear of JHR Developments’ Noah Lisle, with the second Argenti with Prema car of Lucas Fluxa completing the top-10. The top-11 cars were within a second of Fairclough’s benchmark.

A total of 17 cars completed today’s test, with another 988 laps registered on Thursday. Across the whole two-day test, 2,157 laps of the Snetterton 300 circuit were completed by the brand new GB3 cars, demonstrating already strong reliability levels straight out of the box.

Official testing continues in a couple of weeks’ time at Donington Park, with the tests on 19/20 March also doubling up as media days for the series.
