Newly-crowned USF Juniors champion Max Taylor will compete in the GB3 Championship at Donington Park this weekend (7/8 September) with Arden Motorsport.
The 16-year-old American won three times on his way to the title, with the victories coming at Virginia International Raceway, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and Road America, in addition to six other podium finishes from the 15 races in which he participated.
The New Jersey resident also competed in the USF2000 category this year, finishing third overall, this time with four wins. Success came at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Road America and a double at Mid-Ohio, with only the eventual champion standing on the top step more often.
His results are all the more remarkable considering his karting career only began in 2020. Progress has been quick since then, with Max winning the P1 STARS Championship in 2022, and finishing second in the IAME Grand Nationals and third in the SKUSA Pro Tour and Supernationals, all in the same year.
He moved up to car racing for the following campaign, finishing sixth in USF Juniors and completed selected events in USF2000.
Having proven his credentials in the USA, Taylor now heads to the UK’s premier single-seater category. Having experienced the car for the first time in winter testing, he was back in action at last week’s test day at Donington Park, and was an impressive third fastest, just over a quarter of a second off top spot.
